English singer and songwriter, Harry Styles has managed to orchestrate a harmonious love story with his music and style. Styles' sartorial evolution started from his boyband days in 'One Direction; to now, where fashion is a significant extension of his personality. A modern fashion icon now, back in 2012 when he started with his band, the singer kept his looks simple yet noteworthy - a classic English suited boy when he started his foray into fashion.
A more elevated everyday look, Styles started experimenting with the Fedora hat in 2014-15 - the beginning of his ‘sharp accessorising’ era.
Post his split with the band, Styles’ first solo album 'Sign of the Times', saw him in a new look that was vintage-inspired. Flaunting a rock and roll-inspired suit in colour-popping colours of gold and pink, he was ready to be a full-blown style icon.
Styles can pull off any look, even this pinstriped shirt with bold-red pants with suspenders and rings on almost every finger provided just enough of a punch.
When Styles co-hosted the 2019 Met Gala, he showed up wearing a very campy, ruffled sheer blouse and black trousers, following a journey of becoming the unofficial mascot of Gucci.
The Brit singer pulls off the ‘millennial pink’ hue better than any of us. The singer’s eye-catching ensemble in his latest, ‘Fine Line’ album is a bespoke Gucci outfit in a fuchsia silk blouse with matching suspenders and wide-legged bell-bottoms is much more than a nostalgic fashion throwback.
For the 2021 Grammy Awards, Styles wore a custom check-tweed jacket with a knitted tartan sweater vest, velvet flared pants and leather boots all in Gucci.
For one of his concerts, Styles wore a lace one piece with all of the trimmings, flounces and frills that flamboyantly captured his love for the 60s-70s fashion. He has significantly relied on a certain English dressing sensibility while keeping the retro ‘rock and roll’ vibe intact.
Although a pioneer of the ‘soft-boy’ aesthetics, he has always been a risk-taker with his sartorial choices. The transition into the new Harry Styles saw him elevating some of the biggest trends like grandpa chic sweater vests, men adorning manicures and pearl necklaces, united crocheters and knitters.
A true breaker of archaic-stylish rules and against toxic masculinity, Styles with his fashion demonstrates a bold, unapologetic style, intended to always make a conversation and not just a statement.
