The only Indian who attended Met Gala 2022 was philanthropist and businesswoman, Natasha Poonawalla. A lover of dramatic outfits, her Met Gala look offers a lesson in how to blend Indian and Western couture styles.
Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, Natasha chose an embellished, golden Sabyasachi saree with a long train and accented it with an armour-like, metallic, golden Schiaparelli bustier. This was definitely a 'one-of-a-kind' look.
For jewellery, Natasha threw in some edgy details - layered bangles and dramatic bejewelled earrings by Sabyasachi fine jewellery with some pieces from ace jewellery designer Bhavya Ramesh.
Taking to Instagram, Anaita writes, “I wanted something ornate yet whimsical, with a focus on the waist as a curtsy to the corsetry and bustles of the time, and a frothy swathe of tulle with delicate embroideries in an Indian drape…
…The Schiaparelli metal corset as the ultimate symbol of a true renaissance in fashion, a return to pure extravagance, and combined it with the excellence of India’s most celebrated designer, Sabyasachi.” Anaita and Natasha definitely took this look many notches higher.
